Route notes
Why this routing works
This 3-week economy itinerary is structured as a single open-jaw style loop from Atlanta into Madagascar first, then back across southern Africa through Johannesburg, Victoria Falls, and Cape Town before returning to Atlanta. The longest planned stay is 10 nights in Nosibe, which makes the front end of the trip the main anchor and keeps the later sectors positioned as shorter onward stops.
Routing it in this sequence helps avoid backtracking once the trip reaches the African mainland. Johannesburg works as the central connection point between Madagascar and the onward sectors in Zimbabwe and South Africa, while Cape Town is placed at the end to create a clean final long-haul return to the US.
From a ticketing standpoint, this is a true multi-stop international itinerary rather than a simple roundtrip with add-ons. Keeping all sectors on one coordinated plan can make timing across the Africa segments easier to manage, especially on a 3-week schedule where connection flow matters more than adding extra stops.
