Who this fits, and who should book it themselves
We're a good fit if
- Your trip has two or more long flights with stops between them, such as Los Angeles to Sydney, Sydney to Singapore, then home.
- You want a lie-flat seat on the 10-hour overnight flights and don't care about the 90-minute hops.
- You're going to Australia, New Zealand or the Pacific, and this is the trip you've been planning for years.
- You want one person who knows the whole itinerary when an airline moves a flight.
Book it yourself if
- It's a round trip to one city. The airline's own site or Google Flights is usually as cheap, and airline sales often beat us.
- You're paying with points or miles. We sell paid tickets; award seats are booked with the airline's loyalty program.
- You need a single one-way flight.
How do you find cheap business class flights?
Put business class only where it matters. Fly business on the long overnight flights and economy on the short hops between them, connect through a hub that opens more airlines and fares, and price the whole trip together instead of as separate one-ways. On a custom ticket, every flight can be priced in its own cabin.
Mix cabins flight by flight
Business on Los Angeles to Sydney, about 15 hours overnight. Economy on Sydney to Queenstown, about three. On a custom ticket each flight is priced in the cabin you choose. Alliance round-the-world passes can't do this; they charge the business fare for the whole ticket.
Route through a hub
Connecting in Doha (Qatar Airways), Dubai (Emirates), Istanbul (Turkish Airlines) or Singapore (Singapore Airlines) puts more airlines and fares in play than the nonstop, and a few nights there breaks a 20-hour journey in two.
Price it early
Airlines sell business class in a handful of fare buckets, and the cheapest go first. Pricing your route several months out leaves more of them to choose from. We'll tell you whether a fare can be held, and for how long.
One trip, not five one-ways
Separate business class one-ways on long-haul routes are expensive, and each one stands alone if a connection breaks. Priced together as one multi-stop itinerary, the same flights often cost less, and one consultant watches every connection.
Is it cheaper to book business class through a travel agent?
Sometimes. On a simple round trip, usually not: the airline's site is hard to beat. On a trip with four or more flights across several airlines, an agency that prices the route together and sets the cabin flight by flight often comes in under separate tickets. If a booking site is cheaper for your trip, we'll say so.
What happens if an airline changes my schedule mid-trip?
Your AirTreks consultant rebooks around it, across every airline on your itinerary, before you go and while you travel. You hear from us with a fix already lined up. Book the same flights yourself as separate tickets and each airline answers only for its own flight: a missed connection is yours to sort out at the airport.

Common questions
What business class travelers actually ask
Is business class worth it for a round-the-world trip?
On flights over 8 hours, business class transforms the experience - lie-flat seats, lounge access, better sleep. On short hops (under 4 hours), the premium buys you little. A common approach: business class on long-haul legs, economy on the short ones.
Can I mix business and economy class on a round-the-world trip?
Not on an alliance RTW ticket, which prices the whole itinerary in one cabin. A custom multi-stop build lets you choose cabin leg by leg, so you can buy business on the overnight ultra-long-hauls and economy on the short daytime hops. For many travelers that is what makes business class affordable.
Do I need travel insurance for a round-the-world trip?
Yes. A multi-month, multi-country trip has too many variables to go without coverage. Look for a policy that covers trip interruption, medical evacuation, and missed connections. World Nomads and SafetyWing both offer plans built for long-term multi-country travel.
How much does AirTreks charge?
AirTreks charges a service fee on top of the airfare, scaled to how complex the itinerary is, and you see the total price upfront before committing. On a 6-stop multi-continent trip the fare construction difference alone can save $1,000 to $3,000. On a simple 3-stop trip it probably will not.
Is jet lag worse flying east or west?
Eastward is harder. Sleep research puts adjustment at roughly one day per time zone crossed going east, versus about two-thirds of a day going west. Flying west asks your body to stay up later; flying east asks it to fall asleep earlier, which most people find much harder.
Who is AirTreks?
AirTreks is a travel company based in White Salmon, WA that has been building custom round-the-world and multi-stop itineraries since 1987. Our staff is global. Each trip is routed by a human consultant using fare construction techniques that online booking tools can't book.
Are there airlines that do not work on round-the-world tickets?
Yes. Some alliance members look fine on paper but have almost no inventory in the fare classes RTW tickets require. Air India is a Star Alliance member with essentially no RTW fare class availability, and South African Airways is much the same. We route around them automatically.
How many flights can an alliance round-the-world ticket include?
Both Star Alliance and oneworld cap you at 16 segments, and connections count against that total, not just the cities you stop in. Both also require you to cross the Atlantic and the Pacific exactly once each, so you cannot cross the same ocean twice even where it would make geographic sense.

FAQ
Business class flight questions
Is business class worth it on long flights?
On overnight flights of eight hours or more, usually yes: a lie-flat seat means you arrive able to function. On a 90-minute hop the seat makes little difference, which is why many travelers book the short flights in economy and spend the savings on the long ones.
Can I mix business and economy on one ticket?
Yes, on a custom multi-stop ticket each flight can be booked in its own cabin. Alliance round-the-world passes work differently: oneworld Explorer and Star Alliance Round the World charge the business fare for the whole ticket, even on a flight you sit in economy because it has no business cabin.
Do you book first class too?
Yes, where airlines still sell it. The prices on this page combine business and first class. Star Alliance stopped selling first class Round the World tickets on October 1, 2026; oneworld Explorer still sells first. Ask us which airlines on your route still fly a first class cabin; many long-haul routes now top out at business.
Can I use points or miles through AirTreks?
No. We sell paid tickets. If you have the miles for an award seat, book it with the airline's loyalty program, and talk to us about the flights your miles don't cover. Most paid business fares earn miles; how many depends on the airline and the fare.
How do I get a business class quote from AirTreks?
Book a call with a business class specialist at a time that suits you, or build your route in TripPlanner for an instant estimate. Either way a consultant prices the real trip, cabin by cabin, before you pay anything. The call costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
