Why this routing works
This itinerary is built as a long multi-stop sequence rather than a simple out-and-back, starting in Boston and moving steadily across East Asia through Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Hong Kong before the long-haul jump to Europe. That first section clusters neighboring stops together, which keeps the early part of the route regionally focused before shifting continents.
After Hong Kong, the ticket uses Nice as a recurring anchor point in Europe. The route runs Nice-Madrid-Marrakech-Cairo-Nice, then branches again to Oslo and back to Nice before continuing to Geneva. Structuring the middle of the trip this way links several regional sequences onto one long ticket without forcing a straight line through Europe and North Africa.
The final long-haul section pushes south from Geneva to Cape Town, then returns to the United States through New York City and finishes in Los Angeles. Over 40 weeks, that pacing spreads the biggest intercontinental flights across distinct phases of the trip and ends with domestic positioning inside the USA rather than requiring a return to the original departure city.
