Route notes
Why this routing works
This routing is structured as a compact 3-week Asia loop from Los Angeles, moving westbound through Beijing and Kathmandu before breaking the ticket with an overland transition to Paro. From there, the itinerary resumes by air to Dhaka and Chiang Mai, then finishes with another overland segment into Vientiane before the return to Los Angeles.
The sequencing keeps the long-haul transpacific flights at the beginning and end of the trip, with shorter regional flights grouped in the middle. That usually makes the pacing easier to manage on a shorter overall trip length, especially when combining multiple countries in one ticket.
The double slash breaks in the route string indicate separate ticketed sections around the overland portions: Kathmandu to Paro and Chiang Mai to Vientiane are not flown on this itinerary. That setup can be useful when a trip mixes air segments with planned surface travel, while still preserving a clear long-haul framework in and out of Asia.
With economy cabin and six city stops including two overland transitions, this is a more connection-focused itinerary than a simple round-trip. April departure timing places the trip in the apr-jun season window, which is relevant for building a route that fits within a fixed 3-week schedule.
