Route notes
Why this routing works
This 25-week round-the-world routing starts in Minneapolis and moves east through Europe before continuing to Africa, Asia, Australia, and Japan, then returning to Minneapolis. The sequence keeps the trip directional rather than backtracking, which is useful on a long economy itinerary with many stops and varied stay lengths.
The European section is front-loaded with longer stays in Porto and Split, followed by shorter stops in Cologne, Oslo, Athens, and Rome. From there, the ticket continues south to Luanda and Cape Town before shifting to a longer stay in Kathmandu and then shorter Southeast Asia stops in Bangkok and Singapore. This kind of structure balances extended bases with shorter connection cities and helps distribute the flying across the full 25 weeks.
Two surface sectors are built into the plan: Singapore to Darwin and Cairns to Osaka are not flown on the ticket, allowing overland or separately arranged travel between those ticketed flight points. The flown segments then resume with Singapore to Cairns and Osaka to Tokyo represented as open-jaw transitions around those surface sections, which is a common way to keep a complex RTW fare flexible without forcing unnecessary backtracking.
With a January departure and travel running across the Jan-Mar season start, this itinerary works best for travelers comfortable managing a high stop count in economy while still keeping each flight tied into one continuous round-the-world framework. The sold range for this route is $6,821 to $8,930 per person in economy, reflecting the complexity, stop count, and intercontinental coverage.
