Route notes
Why this routing works
This 12-week round-the-world routing starts in Toronto and uses Vancouver as the transpacific setup point before continuing to Tokyo and Bangkok. From there, the itinerary steps through Male and Cairo, then finishes with a three-stop sequence in Italy: Catania, Bari, and Rome, before returning to Toronto. The order keeps the trip moving in one broad direction rather than backtracking between regions.
As a ticket structure, this works well as a single multi-stop economy RTW because it combines a long-haul Pacific crossing, a run through Asia, an Indian Ocean stop, a North Africa segment, and then a concentrated European finish. Grouping the Italian stops near the end helps contain the shorter regional flights within one part of the trip instead of scattering them across the itinerary.
Timing-wise, a January departure spreads 12 weeks across the Jan-Mar season, which gives this route enough duration to justify both the long intercontinental sectors and the multiple stopovers. With nine flight sectors including the return, this is a fairly full economy itinerary, but the sequence is straightforward: Canada to Asia, then onward to the Maldives, Egypt, southern Italy, and home.
