Route notes
Why this routing works
This 8-week itinerary is structured as a westbound-style Pacific routing from Washington DC into Southeast Asia, then back to Washington DC from Hanoi. The flight sequence keeps the long-haul transpacific sectors at the beginning and end of the trip, while the middle is broken into shorter regional segments: Bangkok, Manila, Denpasar Bali, then Cambodia and Vietnam.
A key logistics feature is the overland break after Denpasar Bali, with the ticket resuming in Phnom Penh. That gives flexibility between Indonesia and Cambodia without forcing a same-direction flight path on one ticket. Cambodia is then handled as an open-jaw on the ground between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, before the final flight segment continues from Siem Reap to Hanoi and then home to Washington DC.
With 11 nights in Bangkok, 11 in Manila, 6 in Denpasar Bali, and 15 in Hanoi, the pacing leaves room for longer stays at several major stops rather than constant one- or two-night moves. In economy, and with a sold range of USD 2,326 to 3,044, this is the kind of multi-stop plan that balances a long overall route with relatively simple onward progression through one region.
A December departure fits the stated October to December season window and places the trip across roughly two months. For ticketing, the route combines standard flight sectors with one overland segment, which is often a practical way to keep a Southeast Asia sequence moving forward without backtracking to an earlier airport.
