Hub and Connections
Hub is Athens (ATH). Star Alliance member. Minimum connection time is 45 minutes. Largest Greek carrier. Extensive domestic network connecting Greek islands and mainland cities. European network covers most major EU cities. Good feed for Greek island connections that no other carrier offers at scale. Thessaloniki (SKG) is a secondary base.
Baggage
Piece-based system. Full Star Alliance interline baggage. Bags check through on Star Alliance connections. GoLight fares carry-on only. Domestic Greek flights generally allow checked bags on standard fares. Sports equipment (bikes, dive gear) accepted with advance booking.
Terminal Notes
ATH has one main terminal with two satellite buildings. Aegean uses the main terminal. Business lounge available airside. Greek island airports are often small with limited facilities. Some island airports (Santorini JTR, Mykonos JMK) can only handle narrow-body aircraft and get extremely congested in summer.
Operational Issues
All-Airbus narrow-body fleet (A320neo family and A321neo). No long-haul aircraft. Summer schedule is significantly larger than winter.
