Hub and Connections
Hub at Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere (DAR). State-owned national carrier, relaunched in 2016 after years of dormancy. Domestic routes to JRO (Kilimanjaro), ZNZ (Zanzibar), MWZ (Mwanza), DOD (Dodoma), KDT (Kigoma), BKZ (Bukoba). Regional routes to NBO, EBB, MBA, BOM (Mumbai), HRE, LUN, JNB. Limited long-haul ambitions. No alliance. No codeshares.
Baggage and Interline
No interline baggage agreements with other carriers. Bags check through on TC connections at DAR. ATR 42/72 domestic routes may have reduced weight limits due to aircraft size and strip conditions. Passengers connecting from international carriers must reclaim and recheck bags.
Terminal Notes
DAR has Terminal 1 (domestic) and Terminal 3 (international). TC uses both. Terminal 2 is the old international terminal. New Terminal 3 opened 2024 and improved facilities significantly. JRO (Kilimanjaro) is a small airport with basic facilities. ZNZ (Zanzibar) has a small terminal that can become congested during peak tourism season.
