Operational notes

Hub and Connections

Primary hub: Mohammed V International Airport, Casablanca (CMN). Minimum connection time is 90 minutes (allow extra due to terminal processes). AT is the primary carrier connecting Africa with Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. CMN serves as a gateway to West and Central Africa with extensive network to Francophone African destinations. AT joined Oneworld in 2020 as the first African member. AT codeshares with AA, BA, IB, and QR. Limited Asia-Pacific network.

Baggage

Bags check through on Oneworld interline tickets. AT uses piece-based baggage on transatlantic routes and weight-based on regional African routes. CMN baggage handling can be slow, especially during peak travel periods. Allow extra time for connections involving checked bags. Interline baggage agreements cover Oneworld partners.

Terminal Notes

CMN has Terminal 1 (domestic and some international) and Terminal 2 (international). AT primarily uses Terminal 1. The terminals are basic compared to Gulf or European hubs. AT operates a lounge at CMN for business class and Oneworld elite passengers. Facilities are functional but not luxurious. JFK: Terminal 1. ORD: Terminal 5. LHR: Terminal 3.

Operational Issues

AT has a mixed punctuality record. Delays are common on African routes due to airport infrastructure limitations at some destinations. CMN itself has good weather year-round. Ramadan and summer holiday periods see heavy demand on Europe-Morocco routes. African destinations may have limited ground handling, causing delays. AT's fleet is mixed (Boeing 737, 787 Dreamliner) with long-haul coverage on 787s. Some African routes have low frequency (2-3 times per week), making rebooking after disruptions difficult.
