DOHQatarA growing oil giant, and a week or just a few days is enough to explore it. 2 or 3 days is plenty. A lot of people use it as a long stopover on the way to Asia or Africa. Museum of Islamic Art by day, Souq Waqif at night. War in the Middle East appears to be calming down except for the Strait of Hormuz. Doha connects well to both Asia and Africa, so it works as a pivot point in either direction.

ROMItaly🛏 7 nightsItaly, with fast trains to Florence, Venice and Naples. 3 or 4 days. Rome rewards slow walking. Wander Trastevere in the evening, then eat in a trattoria. Train to Florence or Venice and fly out from there.
