Why this routing works
This routing is built as a round-trip with one open-jaw in the US segment. It flies from Mount Hagen into Moline, leaves the gap between Moline and Bloomington on the ground, then resumes with the return flight from Bloomington back to Mount Hagen.
Using a surface sector between the two US stops avoids doubling back to the same airport before the long return. That keeps the ticket focused on the international positioning while leaving the Moline-to-Bloomington transfer separate from the flown sectors.
At seven weeks, the timing leaves room between the outbound arrival and the return departure rather than compressing the trip into a short turnaround. In economy, that pacing matters most on a routing where the longest flying is concentrated at the beginning and end of the trip.
