SYDAustraliaSydney is a world-class city and expensive too. 4 or 5 nights covers the harbour, a beach day and the Blue Mountains. Stretch it and you pay Sydney prices every night. Favorite day trip for AirTreks staff is Manly Beach - feels like a little village, but you are still in a large city. Fly out of Sydney, or finish in Melbourne or Brisbane and leave from there.

Tokyo
TYOJapan🛏 7 nightsSuper gateway to rest of Japan. Trains rule here so you do not need to fly a few days to visa maxing make sense. Depends how high up the list Japan is on your list. Currency matters when Yen is strong vs weaker. Kyoto Spring Blossoms and getting into the Japan countryside or outside the BIG cities. Like most places globally - they are different worlds. In and out of Tokyo is just fine - you can also overland - come in via Aomori or Sendai and go south to Tokyo airports of continue south to Kagoshima or others on that Southern Tip
